In the context of events marking the 2012 International Women’s Day at the Ecumenical Center in Geneva on 8 March, The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) will receive an “Equal Salary” certification for applying a fair wage policy between male and female employees in the Communion Office.

The Swiss organization “Equal Salary,” which will present a label and certificate to the LWF on this occasion, describes equal salary as a “certification of equal compensation for women and men.” It points out that a company receiving such recognition “applies a fair wage policy between women and men, [which] is good for business and good for the men and women who work there.”

The LWF began the certification process in 2009 as a first step in assessing the conditions under which women participate as co-workers in the Geneva Communion Office.
