The LWF’s governing body between assemblies has gathered in Geneva for its annual meeting.

In his address to the Council, LWF President Munib A. Younan reflected on the theme of the Council and how it related to the mission of the LWF. He also offered perspectives for the LWF journey as a communion of churches. Finance chairperson Christina Jackson-Skelton provided analysis of the LWF’s finances.

In addition to reports on Council business, General Secretary Martin Junge shone a light on communion activities of the past year and prospects for the LWF in the coming one.

Reports were presented on Lutheran self-understanding and on preparations for the 2017 LWF assembly in Namibia and the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. A highlight was Sunday worship in St Pierre Cathedral, a Geneva landmark.
