Interfaith Dialogue on Peace-Building, Democracy and Development

Religious communities play an important role in fostering justice and peace in societies.

In Tanzania and other Sub-Saharan African countries, different faith communities have long coexisted peacefully. However, the societies they live in have gone through significant changes in recent years. This includes new challenges like climate change, economic injustice and extremist violence.

This high-level dialogue meeting brings together 60 religious and civil society leaders in Africa to cultivate a joint sense of public responsibility and to explore ways to address current challenges together.

The participants will share experiences and concerns, analyze the situation and acknowledge shared values.

The conference is the second in a series on “Public Space and Citizenship” launched in January 2014 in Münster, Germany.
