Eligibility criteria for project applications

The call for LWF small-scale youth projects led by youth is now open.

Deadline for applications: 31 October 2021.

Applications must be sent by email to Action.justice@lutheranworld.org under the subject “Youth Peace Project”.

The following eligibility criteria apply to LWF small-scale peace justice projects led by youth:

  • Eligibility of project holder:
    • Any LWF member church is eligible to apply.
    • The project holders will be the young people from LWF member church who develop and implement the project locally along with the other members of the church and the communities by reaching out the schools, villages youth groups and student movements.
    • Project endorsement should be from the leadership of the LWF member church.
    • Only one application for per member church may be submitted.
  • Eligibility of project concept: The project concept has to empower the young people to advocate for actions that promote peaceful, inclusive, and just societies, increase the level of mitigation and adaptation awareness amongst the LWF member churches, and encourage the Inclusion of young people in peacebuilding at local and national levels. Examples:
    • Organize a youth peace messenger training (using the LWF Peace Messengers materials).
    • Organize an SDG-16 training (using the LWF SDG training manual and tools).
    • Facilitate sessions on interfaith dialogue, understanding, and/or cooperation.
    • Facilitate events or workshops to encourage actions for peace using arts, music, and short films.
    • Organize an online campaign social media to promote peace in society/peaceful interfaith relations.
    • Organize a local campaign advocating for more inclusive societies especially for migrants and refugees.
    • Advocate for the promotion of SDG 16 and /or peacebuilding at a national level.
    • Organize events to raise awareness on peace and conflict, promote interfaith cooperation on shared topics, promoting interfaith literacy, strengthening capacity building and education on interfaith and peace, etc.
  • Maximum amount requested to LWF: EUR 2,000 per project.
  • Project duration: from December 2021 until March 2022.

The following screening and approval criteria apply to eligible applications:

  • The application must:
    • Be fully completed including budget and LWF member church endorsement;
    • Demonstrate convincingly the relevance of the project’s objectives and activities in relation to actions for peace;
    • Be proposed, implemented, and led by the young people of the LWF member church;
    • Show that the scope of the project’s objectives and activities in relation to the budget and the capacities of the applicant is realistic.
  • Regional balance in allocation of grants will be observed, depending on the available resources.
