International Women's Day

International Women's Day is marked on 8 March each year as a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day is also a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

For the LWF, gender justice is an essential part of being a global communion of churches. LWF supports the work of faith communities to end practices that are harmful to women and girls, works with UN and civil society organizations to overcome discrimination and violence, educates women on their rights and supports member churches in their struggle against gender imbalances.

On each International Women’s Day, we re-affirm our commitment to gender justice and call upon all our colleagues, partners and member churches worldwide to do likewise.
