(LWI) - The season of Lent is a time for introspection, prayer, fasting, and sharing. The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) is offering Together on the way of the Cross, a daily compilation of a prayer, Bible reading and reflection for use by Christians embarking on their individual journey of spiritual renewal.

The Lenten guide will be shared on LWF’s social  media channels from 26 February, Ash Wednesday until Easter Sunday, 12 April.

Together on the way of the Cross is inspired by Luther’s guide for doing theology through: oratio (prayer), meditatio (meditation) and tentatio (trial/struggle). The guide “helps us to reflect on our life together in the worldwide communion of Lutheran churches,” says Rev. Dr Sivin Kit, program executive for Public Theology and Interreligious Relations, who is coordinating the initiative.

Christian life, Kit adds, goes beyond the privatized individualistic endeavor. “As we discern God’s wisdom through agonizing struggles in our world today, often wounded and marred by division, disappointment, and despair, our faith gives us hope to persevere by journeying together no matter what.”

All the prayers cited are from the LWF worship resource Koinonia Services and Prayers (2004).

Follow the 2020 Lent guide on LWF’s social media channels from 26 February, Ash Wednesday until Easter Sunday, 12 April. #LWFLent
