Transformative masculinities

Being (hu)man in a world of violence

Faced with an alarming increase in domestic violence during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Lutheran World Federation, the World Communion of Reformed Churches, Sonke Gender Justice and Act Alliance facilitated a series of webinars exploring ways of better engaging men and boys in the urgent work of promoting greater gender justice.

The series of three webinars builds on a shared commitment to address the root causes of gender-based violence, to transform the intellectual and spiritual violence that shapes our ideas about what it means to be human and therefore our concepts of masculinity.

The aim is to create solidarity among men and women who are positioned to involve men in reflection on models of masculinity, and inspire them to nurture transformational consciousness about non-violent, pro-social concepts of masculinity within their church’s gender justice work.
