Who We Are » Communion Office » Department for Mission and Development

The Lutheran World Federation Youth Desk (LWF Youth) works to integrate youth and their concerns fully into the life and decision-making of church and society.

LWF Youth is based in Geneva within the Department for Mission and Development (DMD).

LWF Youth focuses since the July 2010 Pre-Assembly Youth Conference and LWF Eleventh Assembly:

Sustainability

LWF Youth seeks a new paradigm that integrates the three pillars of sustainability: society, economy and the environment. LWF Youth promotes practices and policies today that do not compromise the capacity of future generations to meet their needs as well.

Gender Justice

LWF Youth calls on the Lutheran communion to challenge systems and practices that limit choices for both men and women on the basis of gender.

LWF Visibility and the Role of Youth

LWF Youth advocates for improved communication, governance and meeting spaces to facilitate more active youth participation.

LWF Youth also explores tools to help young people better understand LWF structures and ways of functioning so that youth have a place and voice in all aspects of church life, including decision-making.
