Central Western Europe

In Central Western Europe, communion among the member churches is mainly seen in terms of east-west relations, resulting in many partnerships with churches in central and eastern Europe.
These partnerships include support in many fields, such as financial support or sharing of resources to enable a partner church to engage in a project much needed in its context.
Sharing experience and knowledge in different specialized fields of church work, such as the organization of diaconal structures within a church body or special programs for HIV/AIDS care can be aspects of communion.
In the light of the changing role and place of churches in postmodern society, joint reflections by the region's member churches on "How to Be Church," as well as mutual invitations to moments of significance and to celebrations, are visible expressions of the Lutheran communion in the region.
