AIDS Project Support Fund
The AIDS Project Support Fund (APSF) was set up by the LWF's Department for Mission and Development to help LWF member churches take first steps in starting an AIDS ministry. Organizing a workshop, drafting an AIDS policy document, training trainers: these are some examples of small-scale projects which may qualify for support.
Projects that directly involve an LWF member church have precedence over requests from church-related organizations. Priority is given to initiatives that:
- enable clergy and church leaders to join in the fight against HIV & AIDS
- involve the church in awareness campaigns and sex education, including the need to change harmful attitudes and practices
- focus on peer groups (youth, men, women) with the aim of raising awareness and changing behavior.
Applications must address issues outlined in the LWF Action Plan “Compassion, Conversion, Care” and must be endorsed by the LWF member church. Only one-time applications will be considered. Construction and other capital costs will not be funded.
If you think your church’s AIDS project might qualify for support, check the APSF application form for more details. Applications can be submitted throughout the calendar year to the LWF HIV and AIDS Coordinator.
