In North America, communion calls the member churches to grow in their partnerships, responsibilities and accountability. Communion within the LWF shapes the wider context of their accountability and calls the churches to deeper relationships in mission.

Being active partners in the communion means finding great joy in sharing gifts and resources, and challenges the churches to live out their understanding of accompaniment as they walk in global companionship.

New commitments to meet regularly with one another are being strengthened. With these strong commitments to each other as foundational, the churches are breaking new ground with full communion agreements in the wider church family.

The Regional Office for North America has as a major responsibility, facilitating the sharing of gifts among the member churches in areas such as mission outreach, renewal in church life and witness of the church in society. This commitment is taken seriously by the leadership in the churches.
