Department for Mission and Development

Human Resources Development

Human Resources Development (HRD) encompasses the Department for Mission and Development (DMD) global programs related to education and training. These programs serve as tools in addressing the overarching objectives to strengthen the Lutheran communion for holistic mission. The HRD Desk is based in Geneva.

Education and training are powerful tools in the struggle for development and transformation towards more just societies. The sharing of resources through the HRD programs enables churches and individuals to reach their potential for witness and service. In workshops and individual meetings with church leaders, churches are encouraged to include planning for human resources development as part of their total strategic planning.

The main goal of the Fund for Language Training Courses is to enhance interaction and participation in the life of the Lutheran communion by breaking down language barriers between individuals. The whole communion benefits when individuals are able to participate in international gatherings and, in an active way, share their experiences and knowledge.
