Communication Consultancy

Communicating the message
© LWF/A. Berthelin

Communication is an integral part of the ministry of the church. Communion expresses itself through communication, while communication strengthens communion. Strengthened communication awareness and capabilities among churches and church workers lead to more appropriate and integrated use of available channels of communication in the holistic ministry of the church.

To support the development of effective communication, DMD communication consultancy aims to strengthen the communication competence of member churches, provide communication tools and technical resources/equipment, and assist in communication research and study. Technical consultants bring special expertise in different aspects of communication to the projects.

Communication consultancy has these dimensions in view when responding to the needs of member churches:

  • Access and Tools – assisting member churches to obtain basic computer and communication resources to enable effective use of current communication tools such as E-mail and Internet.
  • Ethics – promoting dialogue with member churches on the need to discuss the ethical challenges of the Internet.
  • Policies – assisting member churches to develop their own communication policies, and to develop strategies and priorities within their cultural, social and economic context.
  • Skills and Training – providing support for church workers for training in media skills, and support for communication networks to offer communication workshops and seminars.
